The Director of Public Prosecutions Kerri Judd QC has congratulated Fran Dalziel QC on her appointment as a judge of the County Court of Victoria.
The appointment was announced today by the Attorney-General Jill Hennessy.
“Fran has made a significant contribution to Crown Prosecutors’ Chambers over a number of years and will continue to serve the State of Victoria in this important role” Ms Judd said.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Brendan Kissane QC thanked Ms Dalziel for her service to Chambers and said she would be greatly missed by all the staff.
“Fran has been a fine advocate and her leadership skills have blossomed since her much deserved elevation to Senior Crown Prosecutor,” Mr Kissane said.
“We will miss the enthusiasm she brings to Chambers, her ability and knowledge of criminal law and her sage advice. I wish her all the best in her new role.”
Ms Dalziel was appointed a Crown Prosecutor in 2012 and Senior Crown Prosecutor in 2018.
She was appointed Senior Counsel for the State of Victoria in November 2018.
Before joining Chambers, Ms Dalziel practised in criminal law and personal injury at the Victorian Bar and was a solicitor with Mills Oakley Lawyers, WorkCover and Kenna Croxford.
She was admitted to practise law in 2001.
Her appointment to the County Court is effective as at 28 February 2020.
