The Director of Public Prosecutions Kerri Judd QC and Chief Crown Prosecutor Brendan Kissane QC have welcomed the appointment of Patrick Bourke SC as a Senior Crown Prosecutor.
Ms Judd said the appointment was well-deserved.
“Mr Bourke has conducted a number of significant criminal trials since joining Crown Prosecutors’ Chambers and is ready to take on this senior position. The appointment recognises his legal, advocacy and leadership skills” she said.
Mr Kissane said Mr Bourke had appeared in a number of difficult trials and appeals.
“I congratulate Mr Bourke on his appointment. He has as a Crown prosecutor been an enthusiastic and productive member of chambers. His experience and knowledge will be of ongoing benefit to Crown Prosecutors’ Chambers” he said.
Mr Bourke was admitted to practice law in 1992 after completing his law degree at Monash University.
He worked as a solicitor, principally in criminal law advocacy, before joining the Victorian Bar in 2005. At the Bar, Mr Bourke gained extensive experience in trials involving sex offences, murder and attempted murder in the County and Supreme Courts. He was appointed a Crown Prosecutor in 2018 and appointed Senior Counsel in 2020.
