Neill Hutton and the OPP’s Justin Lewis appointed senior counsel

The Office of Public Prosecutions sincerely congratulates Senior Crown Prosecutor Justin Lewis and former Crown Prosecutor Neill Hutton on their appointment to senior counsel.

Director of Public Prosecutions Kerri Judd KC and Chief Crown Prosecutor Brendan Kissane KC said the appointments reflect the exceptional contribution both Mr Lewis and Mr Hutton have made to the profession and the important work of the OPP.

“Appointments to senior counsel rightly carry enormous prestige within our profession, so it’s with great pleasure and pride that I congratulate Justin and Neill on this wonderful achievement,” Ms Judd said.

Mr Lewis’ appointment to silk comes eight months after his appointment to Senior Crown Prosecutor and more than a decade as Crown Prosecutor. He has appeared in many complex matters over the years, including the successful prosecution of Malka Leifer in 2023.

“Justin’s silk appointment is thoroughly well-deserved. I’ve known him for many years and regard him as a meticulous thinker and outstanding advocate,” Mr Kissane said.

The DPP and CCP also extend their warm congratulations to Mr Hutton on his appointment to silk.

Mr Hutton served as Crown Prosecutor for six years before recently returning to the private bar.
